Harry Kane goes into the 2026 World Cup as the form striker of the tournament, having scored 36 league goals for Bayern Munich this season, more than any other player heading to North America. Behind him sits a Golden Boot race shaped by an unlikely source: the Saudi Pro League, which supplies three of the top dozen scorers.
These are the players arriving in the sharpest goalscoring form, ranked by their domestic league goals this season.

What the numbers say
Kane is the obvious favourite on form. His 36 goals lead the field, and at 1.4 goals per 90 minutes he is also the most prolific of any contender by that measure. England's whole forward line is firing, with Ollie Watkins and Toney both among the season's heavier scorers.
The Saudi Pro League is quietly central to this race. Toney (33), Quiñones (33), Ronaldo (28) and João Félix (20) all racked up their goals there. Worth a caveat: the Saudi league is a softer defensive environment than Europe's top five, so those tallies should be read with a little more caution than Kane's or Mbappé's. Goals still tell you a striker is in rhythm, wherever they come.
Europe's headline names are sharp without leading. Haaland (27) and Mbappé (25) are exactly where you would expect, and in a tournament that rewards the elite supporting cast around a striker, both will start as shorter-priced Golden Boot picks than this club-form list alone implies.
The dark horses are the ones outside the obvious nations. Ayase Ueda (25 in the Eredivisie) leads the line for a Japan side good enough to top its group, and Armando González (24 in Liga MX) gives co-hosts Mexico a genuine threat on home soil.
One important caveat
This is club league form, not a forecast. The Golden Boot counts only goals at the tournament, and that depends on how far a team goes, how many penalties fall a striker's way, and the quality of service. A player from a side reaching the final simply gets more games to score in. Treat this as a guide to who is arriving sharp, not a prediction of the winner.
